Proposed changes to the Constitution of AMACSS
Here are the items that AMACSS executives propose to include into the Constitution of AMACSS:
In Article IV : Added 4.1.8, 4.2.1.2, 4.5.8
Justification: These sections are all pretraining to the new position of the Marketing assitant. Over the past semester we have realized one of the main downfals of events and AMACSS in general is the lack of someone with both artistic and marketing skills. These skills are extremly useful when promoting events as well as for making the website look more professional. These things will greatly assist the organization. The justification for having this position as a hired position is that it requires an extremly specific skill set, and thus should not just be elected.
Introduced Article V Associate Members
Justification: As AMACSS grows in size (membership has increased from ~15 members last year to ~110 members this year) it becomes increasingly difficult to advertise to all members about events without spamming their emails. A good alternative is to use students who are already in classes with other members to advertise and promote AMACSS events. Furthermore, as the crowd drawn to events increases, it becomes increasingly difficult to run events with only a limited number of executives. By increasing man power, it becomes easier to organize large scale events that will benifit all students in the department.
In Article XI : Added 11.2
Justification: It has come to our attention based on the past two elections that many inappropreate actions have occurred due to the lack of privacy among voters. To better resolve this issue, we resolve to have the voting in a closed ballot system with the ballots being tallied in front of the present general members. This will allow for the members to find the results immediately, but remove the chances of people being swayed to vote a specific way due to others in the room voting this way.
